I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 20 years of clinical experience. My Bachelor’s degree was earned from Alma College where I was recognized as magna cum laude and graduated with honors in psychology. I went on to earn my graduate degree in Counseling from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. During my clinical training I completed over 4000 hours of supervised experience conducting psychotherapy and assessments within a community mental health agency. I hold a National Counselor Certification as well as being identified as a Certified Forensic Mental Health Evaluator and Certified Child Custody Evaluator.
I began my career in community mental health on an assertive community treatment team as a case manager working with adults and families that were chronically mentally ill gaining extensive experience with multiple disorders. There I learned that a collaborative approach with other health professionals such psychiatrists, case managers, primary care physicians, teachers, and parent’s etc. assist in achieving the highest level of mental health.
I have worked with children, adolescents and adults with various concerns and I am paneled and accept almost all insurance providers, to include Medicare. My range of expertise includes depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, intimate relationship conflicts, substance abuse, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, and oppositional behavioral problems. I’ve been successful in managing the difficulties that can arise with blended families and single parent households.
It is found that a therapeutic alliance with a client is a necessity in healing and I establish that through warm acceptance and unconditional positive regard. I have a solution based approach to counseling in which active participation is encouraged. I provide information and assessments to establish a clear understanding of the problem, develop a collaborative treatment plan, and utilize or refer to the most effective scientific based therapeutic interventions. I have an aggressive approach to counseling that is Cognitive-Behavioral in nature, often educating on techniques that are encouraged to be work on outside the session.

I
am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 20 years of experience who is
passionate about helping people move from where they’re at to where they want
to be. Once you have made the decision to start therapy, I believe the
process for change begins with a strong client-therapist relationship as the
foundation. Trust is something that is earned, and I do that through
compassion for your struggles, ensuring that you feel heard, and assisting you
to build solutions in areas YOU want to change. As you consider making
changes, you can become overwhelmed by all the thoughts that flood your mind,
and I am here to help you structure your thoughts to focus on the very next
action step you are willing to take. I believe that even the smallest
changes over time can lead to big results!
I have experience working with individuals, couples, and families, and I get the most joy and satisfaction from working with high school students, young adults, and individuals who are looking to become the best version of themselves. I also have a special interest in helping those who are struggling with fertility issues successfully navigate their fertility journey. If you are struggling with anxiety and/or depression complicated by life stressors of work, school, family, health, relationship conflicts, or other personal challenges, I encourage you to reach out to me as the first step in discovering all you were meant to be.
Mackenzie Bruni, LLMSW
In this role, I worked closely with patients navigating mood, personality, and psychotic disorders. I supported individuals in moments of crisis in both group and one-on-one settings, helping them build coping skills, gain insight, and move toward stability. I also partnered with loved ones, providing education and support so they could better understand and navigate mental health diagnoses alongside the people they care about.
My experience in inpatient psychiatry shaped me into a grounded and steady presence in the therapy room. I bring warmth, curiosity, and deep respect for each person’s lived experience. I believe meaningful change begins with a strong therapeutic relationship, and I strive to create a space where clients feel safe, supported, and able to show up as their full, authentic selves. I am excited to bring these skills into the outpatient setting and to walk alongside clients as they pursue growth, healing, and lasting change
